North Carolina

We finally made it back to North Carolina December 24 (Christmas eve) after our ordeal trying to make it back to North Carolina from Hawaii. Christina was so tired after her shower, she was going to put hair gel in her hair, she grab the aloe vera gel and put it in her hair. She had to take another shower to get it out. Christina's mom & step dad had the family over for Christmas eve. There was 19 total of us for dinner. We had yummy food, open a few gifts. Amaya (niece) read a Christmas book to us all. My mom's neighborhood lites candles along the street, that are in white paper bags. It looks very neat driving into the neighborhood. But sad thing is that it was windy that night. And it catch like 3 people yards on fire, so sad. Even one yard the fire truck had to show up to put fire out. The fire came very close to the people's house. Christina's little sister Kara and Christina went around after the fire trucks showed up and went around neighborhood in her car and blew out the rest of the candles. We were all so tired, we were amazed we slept in till 8 a.m. on Christmas morning, we probably would have slept more. We all had a wonderful Christmas. Got great gifts. Christina, Kara, TJ, Nancy went to the movies and saw: The Tale of Despereaux. Steve & Paul saw: Valkyrie. We ate more yummy food, and sat around and visit & played games. Friday, December 26 we got all packed up. Amazing Steve was able to get everything we needed in the car, just barely. Nancy made an early dinner. We got on the road to drive home around 3:15 p.m. We made it home around 7:45 p.m. We got half way unpacked last night. Today (December 27) got up and went to Amy house. She took care of our hermit crab for us. TJ & Christina stayed there for a little over an hour. We asked Amy and the kids to come over later to play. Steve got us lunch since we had nothing in the house. TJ worked on homework. Amy and kids came over for a few hours. It was nice to visit with them. After they left TJ went over to another friend's house Lil Trevor. They play outside. Christina visit with Lil Trevor's mom & dad. Steve went grocery shopping. Steve got home and we got groceries put away. Steve made hamburgers for dinner. TJ is playing his video game. Steve & Christina are catching up on their recorded shows they missed.

Hawaii (part 6) FINAL

We were able to fly out of San Fransisco. But plane took off late. So I was worried cause we only had one hour between flights. When we finally landed in Chicago we only had about 15 min till our next flight took off. I called my mom she was ready for me to call and told me our flight was 1 1/2 late. I was glad to hear that. Otherwise we probably wouldn't have made it to our plane on time. So we went and got something to eat. We went to our gate & waited. Then they closed the airport due to weather. It was snowy and icy. We didn't know if they would close it 5 min for rest of night. 6-7 hours from the time our plane flew into Chicago we finally were able to take off. We made it to North Carolina airport around 3:30 a.m on Christmas eve. So think about it been traveling since Sunday (that is 4 days). Only have the clothes we had on. Thank goodness we had hotel room for 2 nights. We could shower. But putting back on dirty clothes didn't made you feel that clean even though you had just taken a shower. I am so glad we made it to North Carolina, cause who knows how long we would have gotten stuck in Chicago, if we weren't able to get out. Christina's mom picked us up from the airport. Steve said to her Nancy I am so happy to see you and be here I could cry.
We leave late Friday, December 26 to drive back home (Virginia).

Hawaii (part 5)

Saturday, December 20 we checked out of our time share. Trevor & Christina are flying on free airplane tickets, so we weren't able to fly out on Saturday. So Steve had enough Hilton hotel points that we could stay there for free. We got checked in & went to the pool & had lunch. Steve went geocaching. Rest of day we hang out & relaxed. Sunday, December 21 we went to airport. We were on runway ready to take off, and pilot came on and said we were waiting for some paperwork to get filed. Well after almost an hour they pull us back in to gate. They had us get off plane. Then told us the stewardess wouldn't be able to continue cause she would be over her time in the air for a day. So we had to book us for the flights we would miss. And wait for another crew to show up. After 4-5 hours we finally got on our way. We fly to San Fransisco got in about 1:00 a.m. Monday, December 22. They gave us a free hotel room and book us other flights. So we are stuck in San Fransisco for almost 2 days. With Christmas week, traveling is bad. And plus all the bad weather many places. We went to get our suitcases. The airline sent our suitcases on to North Carolina. So being stuck here 2 days same clothes, no stuff like tooth brush, brush, shampoo, etc just really sucks badly. I had Steve go & buy tiny shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. We are staying in another hotel room tonight. I hope we get to fly out tomorrow. But bad thing is they have us flying to Chicago. So who knows if we can even fly there or if we get there and get stuck there. Who knows. Trevor has had a couple meltdowns (crying) he is just done. He just wants to get back to North Carolina for Christmas. I can't get mad, he is tired, we are all tired. At least the Hawaii week was great. Keep looking for posts from us.

Hawaii (part 4)

Thursday after our time share meeting, Steve & TJ went snorkeling. It wasn't to clear Steve said. Then we went shopping. That was fun. Each year we get TJ a special ornament for Christmas. So this year we told him we would get him one in Hawaii. So he found one he liked. Then we got another one for us. TJ picked out a Hawaiian shirt that has Santa on it & a Ukulele (little guitar). Christina got a dress. We got some nuts, cookies, chocolates. We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant. We slept good last night. Today Steve & TJ left at 9:00 a.m. to go geocaching. Then they were going tubing & have an picnic lunch. Rosemary & Christina were getting a massage while the boys were gone tubing. Christina finished up her postcards. When Steve & TJ get back in abut 30 min, and get changed & shower we will go out to dinner.

Hawaii (part 3)

We went horse back riding yesterday. It rain lightly off and on during our horse back riding, but we had rain jackets they provided. We saw some beaches when we were horse back riding from some cliffs. That evening we went to a Luau. We took a tour around the grounds. We watch them bring out the cook pig from under ground where they cook it. Then ate dinner. A good choose of food, all you can eat. Then we watched the show part of the Luau, it was very good. We really enjoyed the show. This morning Steve & Christina had to go to a stupid time share meeting, so we could get our helicopter ride discounts. We were amazed they were not as pushy as we thought they would be. Christina been working on her postcards. Right now.......Steve, Rosemary & TJ went to the beach. Rosemary is just going to watch them & work on her post cards. Steve & TJ were going to go snorkeling. Christina is enjoying some peace and quiet.

Hawaii (part 2)

We went ATVing. It was fun, but very muddy. Rosemary went with a tour guy. Steve went on his own ATV. Christina drove TJ in a ATV. Christina thought at first it was a bit scarey. But after that it was fun. Steve was the most dirty after wards. Today we went on helicopter ride. It was very neat. We saw alot of cool waterfalls, etc. Steve & TJ went to the beach. Rosemary & Christina hang out in the room. Christina took a nap & watch a DVD. Rosemary & Christina went to a lei making class. Very easy to make. Steve got a call from his sister Tammy when he was at the beach. She told him that Rosemary's sister had died today. That is so sad. So when Steve & TJ got back from beach he told us the news. Rosemary is doing ok. She is going to stay here in Hawaii and keep enjoying her vacation. More Hawaii news to come in the next few days.

Ate dinner in our room. Then went to bed. Sunday, December 14 relaxed. Steve & TJ went geocaching. Then we drove around the island some, and saw 2 caves, and stop at a beach. Steve & TJ went in the water for about an hour. Rosemary & Christina sat on beach and watched them. After we got cleaned up we went and got some dinner. Came home (time share) and watched some TV and went to bed. Today (Monday, December 15) we are going ATVing.

TJ lost another tooth

At our dentist appt the dentist yesterday dentist said TJ had a loose tooth. Did we want her to pull it? I said no thanks, TJ can work on it and get it out. She said she would give it a month, but mid Decemebr if it wasn't out it needed to be pulled. It might cause problems for the big tooth trying to come in. So Steve and I decided the week before Hawaii if not gone we would make a dentist appt to have it pulled. I told TJ to work on it, wiggle it big time. If he could get it out by December that would save us money. But if he couldn't get it out, we would take him to dentist to get it out. He went to bed at 9:00 p.m. last night. 9:45 p.m. I hear him running down stairs to Steve & I room. He had lost his tooth. I was truly amazed.

TJ & Steve home sick

Steve & TJ are home sick today. Last night Steve started feeling yucky. We went to parent / teacher conference. When we got home he went right to bed. He threw up a few times last night. TJ got up today (before he even knew Steve was home from work) and said his tummy hurt. I had him go potty & eat breakfast. I sent him to school. I e-mailed his teachers and let them know what was going on. An hour & half after TJ got to school the nurse called me. So I went and picked him up. TJ & I went and got gas in Steve's car for him, then went to store and got chicken noodle soup. TJ ate very little. Steve said his tummy, he isn't sure he can eat or not. I am now having TJ lay down and try to take a nap.

Trevor chorus / basketball game

Trevor's school had a fund raiser. Some of the teachers & staff against some of the parents in a basketball game. Some of the teachers were cheerleaders. Trevor's main teacher Mrs. McDannell was a cheerleader, her husband played on the parents team. Trevor's special ed teacher Mrs. Patton played on the basketball team for the school. Before the game the chorus sang the national anthen. Trevor is on the chorus. But they had the chorus turned towards the american flag, so I didn't get to see Trevor. We got a picture of Trevor walking in, to set up to sing. The parents won against the staff. It was fun. Sorry some of the pictures are dark.

Brown Belt

Steve & Trevor earned their brown belts in Tae Kwon Do tonight. I am very proud of them.

dessert raffle

Each month at our pack cub scout meetings, we have a dessert raffle. Each den is to bring 2 desserts to raffle off. We always buy a couple tickets to try and win a dessert. It is a fund rsier to help earn money for the pack. Last night Trevor won the first ticket number they called. So he got to choose the first dessert. This is what he choose:

A pumpkin spice cake. Whoever made this did a wonderful job. It looks too good to eat. LOL. We plan on eatting it tonight.
Trevor's teacher has a son in cub scouts too. She won 2 times at the dessert. First time she let her son choose. Then she came up to Trevor and wanted him to take the next dessert she won. He was too shy.

SAD

Steve told Trevor that Santa is not real story today. I am sad, but I understand he needs to be told the truth. Trevor is 10 years old. As a parent I am just sad, my baby is growning up. So we told him the truth about everything. (like tooth fairy, etc.) Now is he asking million questions. We told him he can't ruin for other kids who still believe. We said he can help us keep the ones who still believe believing.

Mini Reunion (Pymatuning)

This weekend, TJ & I are going to Ohio for a mini reunion I call it. Rest of family call it Pymatuning. (Steve will be going cub scout camping to get trained.) I am pulling TJ out of school Friday & Monday. This year will be 50 years they have been doing this Pymatuning weekend. They have it every Columbus Day weekend. (We have some family that live in Canada. In Canada that weekend for them is their Thanksgiving.) I think they are expecting around 50-60 family members. We go to a state park and rent cabins for the long weekend. It will be fun to see everyone.

Our big reunion is every 3 years. (our next reunion is in June 2009)

New to Blogging

I am trying to learn how to blog. So I can start a family blog for my family. I am not sure if this will be too hard to do or not. I will give it a try. Let's see how this goes. Wish me luck.
